Length:26-29 cm, Wing Span:67-76 cm

Description: Golden-brown plover with a short straight bill and rounded head. In flight shows white axillaries and dark rump.
Adult (Breeding): Blackish upperparts extensively flecked with gold. White stripe from forehead to lower belly separates upperparts from black underparts.
Adult (Non-breeding): Gold flecking duller, underparts mostly off-white.
Juvenile: Like non-breeding adult but with more extensive head and neck streaking.
Similar Species: Differs from Grey Plover by golden flecks on upperparts, and in flight, by white axillaries and dark rump.
Behavior: Body held upright while running. If flushed, flock remains as a tight group, making a long circuit before landing.
Habitat: Muddy pond shores, plowed fields, short grasslands.
Food: Invertebrates.
