| Description: |
Golden-brown plover with a short straight bill and rounded head. In flight shows white axillaries and dark rump. |
| Adult (Breeding): |
Blackish upperparts extensively flecked with gold. White stripe from forehead to lower belly separates upperparts from black underparts. |
| Adult (Non-breeding): |
Gold flecking duller, underparts mostly off-white. |
| Juvenile: |
Like non-breeding adult but with more extensive head and neck streaking. |
| Similar Species: |
Differs from Grey Plover by golden flecks on upperparts, and in flight, by white axillaries and dark rump. |
| Behavior: |
Body held upright while running. If flushed, flock remains as a tight group, making a long circuit before landing. |
| Habitat: |
Muddy pond shores, plowed fields, short grasslands. |
