Length:18-20 cm, Wing Span:55-61 cm

Description: Squarish head, thin black bill, pale lores, and long pale legs. Wings project beyond tail at rest; in flight shows narrow white wing stripe.
Adult (Breeding): Male has white supercilium, broad reddish breast band with thin black border below. Female and non-breeding males are much duller with faint reddish tinge on breast band.
Adult (Non-breeding): Males are much duller with faint reddish tinge on breast band.
Juvenile: Pale feather edges on upperparts create scaly appearance; grayish breast band.
Similar Species: Differs from Greater Sand Plover by broader white supercilium, whitish lores, narrow white wing stripe, and wings that project beyond the tail at rest.
Behavior: Often found far from water.
Habitat: Stony semidesert.
Food: Invertebrates.
