Abundance: Uncommon
Length:19-20 cm, Wing Span:53-63 cm

Description: Yellow eyes, broad ear tufts. Delicate black streaks on a complex pattern of fine bars below.
Similar Species: Differs from Little Owl by slimmer body, ear tufts, and finely barred and streaked underparts.
Behavior: Nocturnal. Far-carrying whistle is repeated every few seconds.
Habitat: Woodlands, orchards, forest edges.
Food: Invertebrates, small rodents.
Nest: Cavity in tree or building; old nest of crow.
Eggs: 32 mm, 3-5, white.
