| Description: | Rounded body, very long tail, and white stripe on closed outerwing. |
| Adult: | Pale brown above. Male: gray head with black mustache and undertail coverts. Female: browner overall, lacking black mustache and undertail coverts. |
| Juvenile: | Yellowish overall; dark lores and black stripe down center of back. |
| Behavior: | Gregarious. Makes short low bouncing flights. Very agile in reeds. |
| Habitat: | Reedbeds. |
| Food: | Invertebrates, seeds. |
| Nest: | Deep cup of leaves and reed heads, low in dense vegetation. |
| Eggs: | 18 mm, 4-8, white, dark brown spots. |
