| Description: | Dark with white patch on back of neck, two whitish wingbars, and black throat. |
| Adult: | Black and white head pattern. |
| Juvenile: | Dark brown and yellow head pattern. |
| Behavior: | Feeds in tree tops; also descends to ground to forage in fallen leaves. |
| Habitat: | Forests with some undergrowth, tree plantations, orchards, large river gorges; semidesert scrub in winter. |
| Food: | Insects, seeds. |
| Nest: | Cup of stems, moss, and wool in tree cavity, wall, or nest box. |
| Eggs: | 15 mm, 4-9, white, reddish spots. |
