Length:15 cm, Wing Span:23-26 cm

Description: Females and juveniles are grayish pale brown-yellow with paler supercilium, whitish lines on back and wingbars, and faint grayish stripes on flanks.
Adult (Breeding): Male has red-brown crown and nape, white cheeks, black bib, and black stripes on flanks and back.
Adult (Non-breeding): Male is much paler and duller.
Juvenile: Grayish pale brown-yellow with paler supercilium, whitish lines on back and wingbars, and faint grayish stripes on flanks.
Similar Species: House and Eurasian Tree Sparrows.
Behavior: Gregarious throughout the year; forms loose breeding colonies.
Habitat: Lowland areas: orchards, grain fields, reedbeds.
Food: Seeds, small invertebrates.
Nest: Loose ball of grass in tree.
Eggs: 22 mm, 4-6, white, gray spots.
