| Description: |
Whitish belly, brown-red rump, and largely white outertail feathers.
At all seasons, female has grayer tone to head and upperparts; dark-streaked crown and throat. |
| Adult (Breeding): |
Male is brighter with black-bordered white crown. |
| Adult (Non-breeding): |
Male has finely-streaked crown, red-brown face, and black-edged white bar across lower cheek. |
| Behavior: |
Usually seen singly in flocks of other buntings. |

Scrubby grassland; field edges. |
