Length:125-145 cm, Wing Span:140-165 cm

Description: Extremely long neck and legs extended in flight.
Adult: Pale pink overall with bright, dark pink wing coverts, and black flight feathers. Pink and black bill is short, thick, and sharply curved downward. Pink legs.
Juvenile: Gray-brown overall. Gray bill with black tip, and gray legs.
Behavior: Feeds with head upside-down, often submerged, and turned towards legs; sweeps bill from side to side through water.
Habitat: Shallow wetlands without aquatic vegetation.
Food: Worms, mollusks, aquatic insects, crustaceans.
