Adult: | Brown above, gray face and breast densely spotted with white, pale brown-yellow undertail coverts. Mostly yellow bill with red base; greenish legs. |
Juvenile: | Pale face, white chin and throat, white spots on breast and flanks, greenish bill. |
Similar Species: | Differs from Baillon's and Little Crakes by larger size and pale undertail coverts. |
Behavior: | Secretive; flicks tail while walking or swimming. |
Habitat: | Marshes, slow streams. |
