Duller head pattern and white belly. |
| Juvenile: |
Browner than non-breeding adult with pale feather edges; head and neck streaked. |
| Similar Species: |
Juvenile differs from juvenile Eurasian Dotterel by less contrasting head and breast pattern, dark legs, and lack of pale breast band. |

Often found in flocks of other lapwings and plovers. |

Shores of ponds in semideserts and mountain steppe; wet meadows, river banks. |
