Length:27-30 cm, Wing Span:70-76 cm

Description: Dark legs, black primaries, white secondaries, and black-banded tail.
Adult (Breeding): Black crown, white forehead, white supercilium, black eyestripe, yellowish ear coverts, and black and brown-red belly patch.
Adult (Non-breeding): Duller head pattern and white belly.
Juvenile: Browner than non-breeding adult with pale feather edges; head and neck streaked.
Similar Species: Juvenile differs from juvenile Eurasian Dotterel by less contrasting head and breast pattern, dark legs, and lack of pale breast band.
Behavior: Often found in flocks of other lapwings and plovers.
Habitat: Shores of ponds in semideserts and mountain steppe; wet meadows, river banks.
Food: Invertebrates.
