Description: | Stout with an upcurved bill. |
Adult (Breeding): | Pale brownish-gray above, white below, blackish scapular lines, white trailing edge to wing, and yellow legs. |
Adult (Non-breeding): | Paler but retains dark scapular lines on back. |
Similar Species: | Differs from other sandpipers by combination of small size, upcurved bill, short yellow legs, and white trailing edge to wing. |
Behavior: | Feeds along water line, often running. Bobs tail constantly. |
Habitat: | Mudflats, lake shores. |
Food: | Invertebrates. |
