Description: | Secretive accentor with bold head pattern. |
Adult: | Broad white supercilium; brown-black ear coverts and crown. Lightly-streaked pale orange breast and flanks. |
Juvenile: | Duller with numerous streaks on pale brown underparts. |
Similar Species: | Differs from Dunnock and Alpine Accentor by contrasting dark ear coverts and pale supercilium. |
Behavior: | Sings from top of boulder. Feeds beside low banks, rocks, and shrubs. |
Habitat: | Subalpine areas with low junipers and rock outcrops. |
Food: | Invertebrates, seeds. |
Nest: | Cup of plants and feathers in shrub. |
Eggs: | 20 mm, 3-5, blue. |
