Broad white supercilium; brown-black ear coverts and crown. Lightly-streaked pale orange breast and flanks. |

Duller with numerous streaks on pale brown underparts. |

Differs from Dunnock and Alpine Accentor by contrasting dark ear coverts and pale supercilium. |

Sings from top of boulder. Feeds beside low banks, rocks, and shrubs. |
