Description: Large brown-gray warbler with two pale wingbars and stout bill.
Adult: Pale yellow iris, gray upperparts, off-white below with variable number of dark crescents.
Immature: Drab gray-brown with only faint barring below; dark iris, pale supercilium.
Similar Species: Blackcap Warbler, Orphean Warbler, Garden Warbler.
Behavior: Shy. Often nests near shrikes.
Habitat: Sunny woodland edge and shrub thickets, usually on hillsides.
Food: Invertebrates, berries.
Nest: Cup of stems in thorny shrub.
Eggs: 21 mm, 4-5, off-white, brown and olive-green spots.
