| Description: | Large brown-gray warbler with two pale wingbars and stout bill. |
| Adult: | Pale yellow iris, gray upperparts, off-white below with variable number of dark crescents. |
| Immature: | Drab gray-brown with only faint barring below; dark iris, pale supercilium. |
| Similar Species: | Blackcap Warbler, Orphean Warbler, Garden Warbler. |
| Behavior: | Shy. Often nests near shrikes. |
| Habitat: | Sunny woodland edge and shrub thickets, usually on hillsides. |
| Food: | Invertebrates, berries. |
| Nest: | Cup of stems in thorny shrub. |
