| Juvenile: | Gray-brown above, dull white below. Bill is black with white and pink base. |
| Similar Species: | Differs from Whooper Swan by smaller size, shorter neck, and shorter blacker bill. |
| Behavior: | Gregarious; feeds and migrates in flocks. |
