| Adult: |
White area extends up forehead from base of bill. Body brown-gray overall with extensive transverse black belly bars. |

Lacks the white forehead and distinct belly bars of adult. |
| Similar Species: |
Differs from Lesser White-fronted Goose by larger size, less extensive white on forehead, and lack of pale eyering. Greylag Goose is larger with blotched not barred belly, and pink not orange-yellow legs |
